Tommy Burnette

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. - Matthew 18:10

Tommy is a friend of Maddy Wigglesworth, which means he he is a friend of mine. He has a problem called dyskeratosis congenita. Daddy had to help me spell that. It causes bone marrow failure, so he had to have a transperson. Rite now, he has had his third transperson and it seems to be goin' gud.

Please pray that everythin' works this time and that God makes him well.

His last update (11/27) said things is goin' gud. Please ask God to keep it that way.

Just when ya thawt it was safe to update a prayer list, sumone tells ya there's a problem. Seems when I posted yesterday, Daddy forgot to tell me Tommy was havin' problems. Well, here is the scoop -

Tommy got put back in the hospital. Seems he's got sum really bad bugs after him. In fak, the bugs are so bad that there's only one medicine that can help. Now that's bad. So, we got to pray extra speshul hard for him. Ya should really go to his page and check it out. It will tell ya more.

Daddy has a few words to say.

I just finished reading Tommy's update. It seems that the swelling in his throat has not gone down with the IV treatments he has been given. Therefore, he is still on a ventilator as the swelling is so bad he cannot breath on his own. You can read the past updates on Tommy's page to understand exactly what is happening. When you figure it out, let me know so I will understand it.

Now, they are going to try radiation therapy to decrease the swelling to the point he can be extubated. That can have a bad effect on his transplant - his THIRD transplant. What a thing this little boy is being made to endure. He is truly a hero. The Burnettes need our prayers so those of you who know this site, please pass it on to others so they can link up with Tommy and pray for him, as well as all the other children.

Back atcha Loren.

As of the January 14, 2001 update, Tommy is out of PICU, but he is still gettin' lots of stuff in his throat that he duzn't want to cough up. Please continue to pray he gets well and gets to go home soon.

Oh, and by the way, don't forget to thank Jesus for gettin' him off the vent thinggy!!!

'Cordin' to his web page, Tommy seems to be doin' ok, but he is having diarrhea and they think the stuff that caused his throat to swell up is in his bowels. Pray he gets better. Don't forget to visit his web site.

Also, there is a kid named Chris S. where Tommy is who really needs your prayers.

Tommy is out of the hospital, but keep prayin' he gets better. Thanks for all your prayers. There are also sum other kids who need your prayers, so keep goin' to his page to check it out.

Tommy is havin' problems with his hip. Looks like sum bad problems, so please ask God to fix his hip. Also, they are havin' problems with GVHD in his gut and keepin' his drug levels up. Please ask God to fix him.

Here is the June 27, 2001 update from Tommy's Page. Look's like he's doin' gud, but he lost his Pawpaw. Please ask God to comfort the hole family.

We are sad to say that Tommy's "GaGa" (maternal grandfather) passed away rather suddenly yesterday morning. What's even sadder is that Tommy is quite clueless as to what has transpired. He loved his "GaGa" very much and would follow him around, helping him in whatever way he could. He loved to borrow his cane and his old "geezer" hat every time he visited. Tommy was very sensitive to his not feeling well and did all he could to make him laugh and make him happy. For Tommy it was an easy thing to do. Our "Buckaroo" is doing very well lately. He has a lot of energy, is sleeping well again at night and is enjoying his homebound "summer school" (so is Mommy!!). He even snuck a bowl full of Nana's tootsie rolls and tried to microwave them for 48 minutes while Nana was in another room!! He could not contain himself when Nana figured it out. Thankfully he did not burn anything up. Hope y'all have a cool week; it is very hot and humid here in sunny ol' Virginia
